Confirmation at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish
WHO? Youth entering the 9th grade are eligible to enroll in the first year of Confirmation.
WHAT? Confirmation is a two-year faith formation journey centered around small group discipleship led by adult volunteers and peer leaders. Youth candidates commit to regular session attendance, yearly retreat experiences, service projects, and active participation in the Sunday 5:00 p.m. Mass.
WHEN? Unless otherwise specified on the schedule, sessions are held Sunday afternoons from 3:30 p.m.- 6:00 p.m., which includes Sunday Mass (beginning at 5:00 p.m.) for youth and their families.
WHERE? Unless otherwise specified on the schedule, Youth meet in Mulcahy Center on the OLA Church campus at 3175 Telegraph Rd. in Ventura, CA.
COST? The annual registration fee is $350 and includes the cost of yearly retreats.
PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

A copy of the teen’s baptism certificate must be provided to the Youth Ministry Office.

Sessions begin at 3:30 pm and end at 6:00 after 5:00 pm Sunday Mass. Candidates are expected to stay for the duration of the Holy Mass. November 3— Large Group- The Creed November 24— God-Creator & Father December 15 – Sin & the Fall January 19 – Parents attend with teen; Being a Teenager is Hard; Rite for Entrance during Mass January 24-26 – Year 1 Retreat, Forest Home-Ojai January 25 - Parent Retreat Meeting; gathering in St. Bonaventure Chapel February 2 – The Trinity and the Holy Spirit March 2 – Discovering Jesus in the Sacraments March 16 – Parents attend with teen; Mass of Understanding March 19 – XLT Night (exalt- Praise & Worship, Speaker & Adoration 7:00 pm-8:30 pm in the Church) - Parents attend with teen, Families Welcome! March 30 — Discovering Jesus in the Mass April 13 — The Catholic Church May 4 — Death and the Last Things May 18 — Baptism and the Family of God June 8 — 1/2 day retreat (time TBD) Parents attend with teen; The Sacrament of Confirmation A copy of the teen’s baptism certificate must be given to the Youth Ministry Office. Year 1 Teens do a service project with their small group.

October 27 – Prayer-Our Capacity for God November 10 – Parents attend with teen; Being a Teenager is Hard November 15-17 – Year 2 Retreat, Forest Home-Ojai December 8 – Sponsor attend with teens – Social Justice January 5 - Life and Dignity of the Human Person January 12 – Call to Family, Community & Participation February 23– Parents attend with teen; Rights & Responsibilities; Call to Conversion during Mass March 9 – Option for the Poor & Vulnerable March 19 – XLT Night (exalt- Praise & Worship, Speaker & Adoration 7:00 pm-8:30 pm in the Church) Parents attend with teen, Families Welcome! March 23 – Dignity of Work April 5 – Confirmation Interviews: 1-3 pm April 6 – Parents attend with teen; Solidarity April 27 – Care for God’s Creation May 17 - Sponsor attends with teen; Year 2 Day Retreat (9am to 4pm) June 1 – Confirmation Day 5:00 pm Sunday Mass To be Confirmed, the Youth Ministry Office must have a copy of each teen’s baptism certificate. In addition, the teen must complete a Saint Name Report and Sponsor Contact Information form. Teens do a service project with their sponsors on their own and turn in a reflection on the service.
