Youth Confirmation at OLA...

...is a preparation experience within a comprehensive youth ministry approach called Anointed for Mission.

WHAT IS ANOINTED FOR MISSION (AFM)?  AFM takes the method of comprehensive youth ministry where we welcome all to encounter Christ through a variety of experiences. Mentored by clergy and faithful lay persons, teens have opportunities for large and small group experiences to deepen their faith knowledge, experience and beliefs.

WHO IS WELCOME TO ATTEND AFM EVENTS? All high school youth (grades 9-12) are welcome to attend any AFM event.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR CONFIRMATION? An individual's readiness to receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation is not about the completion of a program. Readiness begins with a relationship with our Lord and Savior then transcends to a life fully lived in Him where one realizes their purpose is fulfilling God's will for their life. Through the experiences offered within AFM, we pray that all of our teens come to this profound understanding for themselves upon God's faithful timing.

SO, CONFIRMATION PREP IS NOT A 2-YEAR PROGRAM AT OLA? There is no set time or program that guarantees every individual is ready to be confirmed. An individual may be ready within a year, two years or more. Through AFM, a teen can encounter Christ and realize they are called to greatness!

IS THERE A FEE FOR AFM? There is an initial investment of $50 to help OLA cover the necessary administrative costs of coordinating these events. Some experiences may require an additional fee to attend. These fees will be posted per experience as needed.

WHAT IF I'M ALREADY CONFIRMED? CAN I ATTEND AFM EXPERIENCES? YES! All high school youth, regardless of where they are in their faith journey are welcome to attend AFM experiences. OLA has a variety of experiences scheduled throughout the year to meet every person wherever they are in their spiritual transformation.

WILL AFM OFFER A YOUTH RETREAT?  Yes! The fee for our youth retreat for 2026-'27 is $310. Fundraising for the retreat begins in November with our annual Grateful Breakfast.

WHAT'S NEXT?  A parent/guardian may register their teen for AFM by visiting the link below. Registration is required for teens that are regularly attending AFM experiences. The registration allows OLA to obtain necessary permissions and consents. Refer here for the terms & conditions.
