The Society of St. Vincent de Paul at OLA is part of a worldwide organization of lay Catholic men and women who are committed to live and grow in their Christian faith through prayer and personal involvement in charitable works. The Society’s mission is accomplished through parish and community-based groups called Conferences (volunteers) and programs called “Special Works.” The Society’s work includes any actions that promote the dignity of the person, alleviate suffering and distress, while correcting the conditions that cause them.
If you are in need of assistance please call the SVdP office to make an appointment to discuss your needs with one of our office Vincentians. Please leave a message if the phone is not answered and your call will be returned.
Here in the Ventura area, the Society meets person-to-person with those in need of rental assistance, food, pharmacy and medical needs, utility bills, lodging, clothing, as well as transportation.
If you are interested in becoming a Vincentian, you can answer and/or return phone calls, meet with those in need, be available for one of the Bundle Sundays (which is a day held periodically at Church to benefit our SVdP Thrift Store located in Los Angeles), help staff a booth at the Ministry Faire, or other functions.
We here at Our Lady of the Assumption can proudly say that 93% of the funds donated have been used to assist those in need. The 7% is used for office expenses only.
Pray and discern on helping those in need by joining the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul-OLA Conference. Please call for more information: (805) 642-4104 or attend our meetings on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at 9:00 a.m. See you there!
If you would like to donate lightly used or new household goods, clothing, watch for bulletin announcements about OLA-SVdP Bundle Sundays, three times a year in the church paring lot.
If you have any questions please call the SVdP office at (805) 642-4104 and leave a message. Your call will be returned.
