We need your help to welcome back the young Africans during their performance at OLA. Here are some ways you can help:

  • Volunteers will be needed to help pass out the choir’s magazines and programs before the concert.
  • Volunteers will be needed to help with the choir’s merchandise tables before and after the concert.
  • Volunteers are needed to help load the bus on Saturday.
  • Hospitality volunteers are needed to greet and assist those coming to the concert.

Please contact David if you can assist with these important volunteer opportunities – let’s welcome the choir and their leaders the OLA way!

OLA Spiritual Formation Day

Friday and Saturday, February 3 and 4

We need your help with this special event on Saturday, February 4, 2012 from around 7:30 a.m. to around 3:00 p.m.. Here are just a few ways you can help out:

  • Adults are needed to help with the child care program during the event.  Must be fingerprinted and have attended Virtus training.
  • Setup of the facilities for the speakers and hospitality, including chairs, tables, signs, etc. – will be on Friday and Saturday, February 3 and 4.
  • Tear down of the same items after the event – around 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
  • Hosts for the speakers – will help to introduce the speakers and also help them around the campus throughout the day.
  • Janitorial help – we will need assistance with cleaning up after the lunchtime meal and with trash, etc.
  • Registration table – we will need help with the registration process early on Saturday morning.

If you can help out, please contact David as soon as possible. We will need your help with this event to make it a great success and to have an Encounter with God!

Food Baskets – FoodShare Pickup

Every Wednesday morning – 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.

We need your help every Wednesday morning with our Food Baskets program. We need to pick up our weekly food donation from FoodShare in Oxnard, and bring the food back to OLA for our Food Baskets program. Must be able to lift 30 pounds and have a large enough vehicle – pickup or van would be best. This is a great opportunity for couples to help out! If you are available to help, please contact David soon. We will be ramping up for our Easter Food Baskets soon.

Many Meals of Our Lady of the Assumption

Many MealsMany Meals is OLA’s food service program for anyone in the community who needs a good meal in a safe environment. Please consider donating your time, talent or treasure to OLA’s Many Meals program.  If you would like to donate food or supplies, or volunteer, please make sure to get on the work schedule for each week’s meal by contacting David DeVillers prior to coming to the meal service.

Friendship Sunday Volunteers

New volunteers are needed to help with Friendship Sunday. This includes setting up Assumption Hall for coffee and donuts after each morning Mass. This is a great opportunity to help as a team and to meet new parishioners. It is also a great way for the youth of the Parish to help out. For additional information, contact Jeanine Walker at walkerrjbp@sbcglobal.net.

Rides to Mass on Sunday

Is the participation in Holy Mass the most important part of your week? Would you take on very little inconvenience to help someone else get to Mass who otherwise might not be able to attend? Do you have extra space in your car to dive someone to Mass on Saturday evenings or on Sunday? Do you have five or ten extra minutes either before or after Mass to pick up and drop someone off? Are you an insured driver? If you answered yes to all five questions, then this ministry is for you! Please contact John Stebbins at 644-4674 to sign up for this important ministry.

Ministry Leader at OLA?

If you are a Ministry Leader at Our Lady of the Assumption and are in need of volunteers, please contact me to discuss your needs. I would like to help you plan and schedule your volunteers for your ministry events. Give me a call or send me an e-mail to discuss.

Welcome Table Hosts Needed

Each Sunday, we have our weekly Friendship Sunday/Sunday Experiences after each of the morning Masses, which includes coffee and donuts, and often many additional small events. Part of these events is the Welcome Table that is set up directly inside Assumption Hall, to welcome parishioners as they arrive for the events. This welcome table includes information for new parishioners, bulletins, and upcoming special events. Please consider volunteering some time after Mass to help out with the Welcome Table. All that is needed is about 30 minutes, after one or two Masses each month, to help out with this welcome table. Helping out generally includes hanging around the welcome table and greeting people as they come into the hall. Sometimes this could also include handing out information, selling merchandise such as Advent Wreaths, signing people up for special events, and the like. The main requirement is being there to greet everyone and to make the after-Mass events welcoming to everyone. There are up to 15 Mass times that we are looking to fill each month.  For additional information, contact Sherie DeVillers at sholaway@yahoo.com or (805) 415-0639.
