Current Volunteer Opportunities
Every Wednesday morning – 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.
We also need your help every Wednesday morning with our Food Baskets program. We need to pick up our weekly food donation from FoodShare in Oxnard, and bring the food back to OLA for our Food Baskets program. Must be able to lift 30 pounds and have a large enough vehicle – pickup or van would be best. This is a great opportunity for couples to help out!
Please contact Jerry Deal at if you are interested in either of this volunteer opportunity.
Are you interested in audio, video and computer stuff? If so, we are looking for some help with our Audio/Video (A/V) Ministry. We especially need help from anyone with audio mixing experience, to help with mixing the sound during the weekend Masses and special events.
Contact Diane at if you are interested.
OneStop Sack Lunches
We need your help on Monday evenings to assist with the OneStop program. Come help make sack lunches to support our community. We meet in the Parish Center and have different start times each week – either 6:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. and take about an hour to complete the work. This is a great way to volunteer as a family. If you are available to help out, please contact Diane at or (805)642-7966 to sign up.
Friendship Sunday/Welcome Table Hosts
Each Sunday, we have our weekly Friendship Sunday after each of the morning Masses, which includes coffee and donuts, and often many additional small events. We are looking for new groups to host Friendship Sundays. This is an excellent opportunity for your ministry to gain exposure. You are welcome to bring materials and information to distribute. The welcome table includes information for new parishioners, bulletins, and upcoming special events. Please consider volunteering sometime after Mass to help out with the Welcome Table. All that is needed is about 30 minutes, after one or two Masses each month, to help out with this welcome table. The main requirement is being there to greet everyone and to make the after-Mass events welcoming to everyone. There are up to 15 Mass times that we are looking to fill each month.
For additional information, contact Mari at or Diane at or 642-7966 ext. 133.
Ushers and Greeters!
We are looking to expand our Usher and Greeter Ministries. Ushers help each week at Mass, greeting and assisting parishioners, helping with the collection, and helping with Communion. We are also need help at the end of Mass, preparing the pews for the next Mass – rearranging the music issues and missals, etc. This can be a great family activity and will only take a few minutes each week. We are hoping to have additional Ushers and Greeters for each Mass, so please consider volunteering for this vital ministry.
Contact Dn Mike Burns at or (805)642-7966 ext. 145 if you are interested.
OLA's Many Meals at CUMC
Every Wednesday evening at College United Methodist Church – 4300 Telegraph Rd. in Ventura! Many Meals is OLA's food service program for anyone in the community who needs a good meal in a safe environment. If you would like to contribute financially, donate food or supplies, or volunteer to work at the event, please contact Diane at so you can be added to our e-mail list. You will then receive all of the weekly schedule and donation information.
Rides to Mass on Sunday
Is the participation in Holy Mass the most important part of your week? Would you take on very little inconvenience to help someone else get to Mass who otherwise might not be able to attend? Do you have extra space in your car to dive someone to Mass on Saturday evenings or on Sunday? Do you have five or ten extra minutes either before or after Mass to pick up and drop someone off? Are you an insured driver? If you answered yes to all five questions, then this ministry is for you! We especially need your help for the Saturday 5:15 p.m. Mass.
Please contact John Stebbins at 644-4674 to sign up for this important ministry.
